TIU Canada is a Canadian developer and manager of renewable power projects. Since 2016 we have focused on developing high quality energy properties using Canadian renewable energy technical experience and innovative stakeholder partnerships to create value for shareholders and local communities in Canada and around the world. We have invested more than US$65 million in solar power projects in emerging market and Canada, leveraging over 30 years of combined experience developing, monitoring and managing energy projects globally.

Michael Yurkovich
CEO

Michael is the CEO of TIU Canada. Michael is the founder of TIU Canada and has been involved since inception in developing, managing and leading the business since 2016. He is also the President of Refraction Asset Management, a single-family office. Previously he was an investment banker at Genuity Capital Markets & Canaccord Genuity. He has an MBA from the University of Calgary and a B.AH (Honors) from Queen’s University in Economics. He has 12 years of executive experience founding and managing companies in the energy sector.

Vlad Lizunov
Vice President of Finance

Vlad has 20 years of mid-market M&A, capital advisory and deal experience in Canada, US and the CIS. Previously he was a financial advisory partner at Deloitte Canada and the Head of Corporate Finance at KPMG Ukraine. He has successfully executed on over 100 M&A and capital advisory projects valued in excess of USD 7bn. Vlad has a BSc in Applied Mathematics from Belarus State University, an MBA from Emory University and is a CFA Charterholder.

Dan Visser
Canada Country Manager

Dan has more than 18 years of renewable project development, engineering and construction experience.He has led strategy, feasibility and scoping development for a variety of clients with both behind the meter, distribution and transmission connected renewable Projects as well a renewable powered Hydrogen facility assessments. He has led development and engineering manager for Suncor’s Renewable Energy Group, where his team was responsible for over 350 MW of constructed wind projects and a pipeline of over 1100 MW of wind and solar development sites. Dan served as on-site construction manager for two Ontario FIT projects and has extensive site development and construction, stakeholder, community engagement and regulatory experience.




Ukraine
Sergiy Tarakanov
Ukraine Country Director & Poland Interim Country Director

Sergiy joined TIU Canada in 2023. He has over 20 years of experience in the nuclear power industry. At Energoatom (the operator of all NPPs Ukraine, 13.8 GW of installed capacity) he was responsible for the modernization and safety upgrades of nuclear power plants, has experience in implementing international projects financed by International Finance Institutions and served as an expert of the International Atomic Energy Agency in several missions. As a regional director of the American company Holtec International, he was responsible in Ukraine for the construction of dry storage facilities for spent nuclear fuel in the Chornobyl zone and led the three-party consortium for the development of a small modular reactor. The total value of the contracts under his management exceeds 800 million US dollars.
